Amazon Leo is building a constellation of 3,000+ Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites to deliver fast, affordable broadband connectivity to customers around the world. The Leo Connectivity Product team is responsible for defining and delivering the end-to-end networking and service experiences that connect customers — consumers, enterprises, and the public sector — to the Leo network.
We are seeking a highly technical Sr. Product Manager to own product definition for future generations of Leo’s satellite connectivity system. This is a strategic, cross-functional role focused on identifying the customer problems we will solve with next-generation architectures. You will work at the intersection of vehicle engineering, software engineering, modeling and simulation, and the PMT teams building our first-generation network, constellation and customer devices — synthesizing insights across all of them to define what comes next.
This role requires someone who thrives in ambiguity. The problems are not yet well-defined, the solution space is wide open, and the timelines may be long. You will frame ill-defined challenges into actionable product strategies, drive system-level trade studies with modeling and simulation teams and translate technical possibilities into customer-centric product direction. This is a high-visibility individual contributor role based in Redmond, WA.
*** Export Control Requirement***
- Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Key job responsibilities
- Define the product vision and requirements for future-generation satellite connectivity systems, grounded in deep understanding of customer problems across consumer, enterprise, and public sector segments.
- Drive system-level trade studies in partnership with modeling and simulation teams — translating simulation outputs into product requirements and investment recommendations.
- Partner deeply with vehicle engineering and software engineering to understand technical constraints and opportunities that inform future system architectures.
- Collaborate with PMTs owning first-generation constellation systems and customer antenna products to identify gaps, lessons learned, and opportunities that shape future generations.
- Frame ambiguous, long-horizon problems into structured product strategies with clear hypotheses, evaluation criteria, and decision frameworks.
- Write PRFAQs, technical narratives, and investment proposals that articulate the customer need, technical approach, and business case for future system capabilities.
- Represent the futures roadmap in leadership reviews, clearly communicating trade-offs, dependencies, and strategic rationale to senior technical and business stakeholders.
A day in the life
Your morning might begin with a review of simulation results from the modeling team — a new trade study has landed overnight comparing architectural approaches for a capability that could unlock performance improvements for enterprise customers. You dig into the data, identify the assumptions that need stress-testing, and draft follow-up questions for the simulation engineers.
Mid-morning, you’re in a working session with vehicle engineering, walking through how a proposed design change to the satellite bus impacts the connectivity services you’re defining. You push on the customer experience implications and propose a set of requirements that preserve flexibility for future service evolution.
After lunch, you sit down with a PMT colleague who owns our payload software. Together you review field data and customer feedback, looking for patterns that signal where the current architecture falls short and where the next generation needs to leap forward. You capture three hypotheses to validate with simulation runs.
The afternoon is heads-down writing time. You’re drafting a narrative that frames a customer problem — one that doesn’t have an obvious solution yet — and propose an evaluation framework for the engineering team to assess multiple architectural paths. You end the day in a cross-functional sync, aligning vehicle, software, and simulation teams on priorities for the next sprint of trade studies.
About the team
You’ll be part of the Leo Connectivity Product team — a group of product and technology leaders responsible for defining the end-to-end connectivity experience for Leo’s customers. Our team spans device products, networking services, enterprise solutions, and future systems.
We value deep technical curiosity, comfort with ambiguity, and a relentless focus on the customer problems worth solving. We operate with a builder’s mentality — moving fast on the things we understand and moving deliberately on the things that require getting it right. We are a team that debates rigorously, decides clearly, and supports each other once a direction is set.
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We believe the best products come from teams with varied perspectives and experiences.
Basic qualifications
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
- Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
- Experience managing technical products or online services
- Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning
- Working knowledge of RF systems, propagation physics, spectrum allocation, and the physical-layer constraints that govern satellite connectivity performance.
- 5+ years of experience in aerospace, satellite communications, or telecommunications systems.
Preferred qualifications
- Background in satellite communications, space systems, or LEO constellation architectures.
- Experience defining products that span multiple customer segments (consumer, enterprise, public sector).
- Experience working with large-scale simulation and modeling systems to inform product decisions and system architecture trade-offs.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguity — defining 0→1 product strategies where the problem space is undefined and the solution set is wide open.
- Proven ability to influence without authority across multiple engineering disciplines (hardware, software, systems).
- Experience with Amazon’s product development mechanisms (PRFAQs, narratives, working backwards).
