This post is full time and is to provide breast care across the Trust but is primarily based at King George Hospital.

The postholder will be required to work closely with the multidisciplinary team to facilitate the provision of high-quality care for all patients attending the Breast Health Unit's (BHU) diagnostic, one stop and family history clinics which will include history taking, clinical breast examinations, requesting radiological investigations etc.

The post holder will provide a high quality, responsive service to Barking Havering Redbridge University Trust (BHRUT) that assumes responsibility for the patients within the catchment area in co-operation with consultant and resident colleagues in the BHU and other clinical departments.

The postholder will act as an autonomous practitioner in managing and providing advice regarding benign breast conditions and demonstrate safe critical decision-making in the clinical decision-making process and be able to initiate appropriate and timely response to patient reported cues.

The BHU covers all aspects of breast cancer care including screening, symptomatic, risk related care and reconstructive surgery. The BHU (run within the Elm Unit at King George Hospital) has a Multi-Disciplinary Team which is part of the London Cancer Network and delivers:

- Symptomatic One Stop clinics

- Breast Surgery including reconstructive surgery for symptomatic & screening patients

- Oncology service (Oncology Clinics and Chemotherapy service)

- MDT meetings

- Current future plans to commence a Mastalgia service and provision of Patient Stratified Follow Ups (PSFU)

BHRUT also currently has long standing arrangements with Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford to provide reconstructive surgery (including microvascular procedures) for breast cancer patients. Breast surgeons from BHRUT operate in conjunction with plastic surgeons at Broomfield ospital during the Hospital to provide this service. Two of the Breast surgeons currently provide Oncoplastic and reconstruction services at King George Hospital itself.

We're an organisation that is getting better and better and our improvements are driven by a determination to deliver care we're proud of and our patients are happy with.

They are benefitting from a new electronic patient record (we were the last acute trust in London to introduce one) and our maternity services have been rated good by the Care Quality Commission.

We operate from two main sites - KGH in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford. We have two busy emergency departments with more than 346,000 people visiting them last year. We're campaigning to secure the £35m we need to transform the A&E at Queen's and get rid of corridor care.

We're proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre, Radiotherapy Centre and Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. We're also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.

We run a Women's Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George's Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The majority of our 8,400 staff - who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. Many can work flexibly and more than 400 of them are on our Ofsted accredited apprenticeship programmes. We're proud to be a London Living Wage employer.
