Whipps Cross University Hospital

Whipps Cross University Hospital, part of the Barts Health NHS Trust Group is looking for a full time Consultant Geriatrician to join our Older People's Services (OPS) team based predominantly on the Whipps Cross Hospital site.

The posts offer an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and to develop new models of working and services that support all older people attending the hospital and within the local community. Whipps Cross Hospital serves a local population with a high degree of frailty and within the Barts Health Group is being developed to be a centre for Geriatric Medicine.

This post will enable the post-holder to participate in reshaping local acute frailty services delivery and contribute to the departmental 5-year strategy plan.

Whipps Cross Acute Frailty Service is well-established and considered an example of outstanding practice by the CQC in their last inspection in 2019. Healthwatch Waltham Forest rated the inpatient Acute Frailty Unit as 'Outstanding' on their last visit in 2020. The post-holder will have the opportunity to work with a motivated multidisciplinary team to deliver outstanding care and meet the dynamic needs of an expanding older population in the borough.

This post also forms part of the redevelopment of Geriatric Medicine at Whipps Cross University Hospital and gives the post-holder a unique opportunity to collaborate in the redevelopment of the hospital itself.
