Program Manager, Data Center Construction, MARCUS

As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines.

In this role, you will play a key part in bringing our data centers to life. You will manage various aspects of data center projects, from initial concept and design through to construction and deployment. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring projects stay on track and within budget while meeting our standards for quality and efficiency. You will be passionate about technology and construction, and will gain valuable experience in a changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the existing facilities renovations and upgrades program in The Dalles, OR.
• Manage small-to-medium data center construction projects from inception to deployment, including gathering requirements, developing concepts and designs, and managing schedules and budgets.
• Engage with cross-functional partners, customers, and internal organizations to drive consensus, and clearly communicate project updates to leadership.
• Work independently to analyze business needs and resolve critical challenges within a matrix organization, ensuring strict adherence to project timelines and costs.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience in program or project management, including managing programs and processes across distributed systems.
• Experience in construction management, including managing multi-group and multi-disciplinary construction projects.

Preferred qualifications:

• 3 years of experience managing cross-functional projects and vendor relationships, with a proven ability to gather requirements, organize resources, prioritize tasks, and achieve objectives within set schedules.
• 3 years of experience with data center equipment and environments (e.g., electrical switchgear, generators, chillers, cooling towers, HVAC, and controls), including an understanding of start-up and commissioning processes.
• Knowledge of design and construction industry standards, project delivery methods (e.g., design-bid-build, design-build), contractual agreements, and industrial-scale mechanical and electrical systems.
