A total of 84 Consultants including 7 Locum Consultants currently work in Theatres, Anaesthesia and Critical Care. The department also currently employs 1 Associate Specialist, 5 Specialist Grade Anaesthetists, and about 40 trainees based in Anaesthesia ranging from CT1-ST7. 9 Senior Clinical Fellows are employed in the anaesthetic department. There are also trainees from acute medicine, respiratory medicine and emergency medicine who rotate through training in Intensive care and we train both FY1 and FY2 Doctors from our Local Foundation School.

Each of the 3 Consultant General Anaesthetic posts have varied sub-speciality interests as shown in the tables below.

The Consultant Anaesthetist will provide Anaesthetic services at both Trust sites, Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital.

The Consultant Anaesthetist will also provide on call cover for CEPOD Theatres in Hull Royal Infirmary at 1 in 24 with prospective cover currently.

There is an ongoing business plan to modify the current rota to support an acute 24/7 Thrombectomy service at the HRI site which may change the frequency of on calls in the future.

The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.

Made up of two Trusts - Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) - our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.

Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.

As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.

We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Partnership and our community.
