Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with special interest in Colposcopy and/or Rapid Access

This post is for a whole-time permanent consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. This is a whole-time post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Medic to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.

The Trust is recruiting to a new post, created as a result of the Trust's response to Ockenden recommendations and the Trust's commitment to women's health.

The post holder will help to change how we deliver women's services at the Trust and builds on the development of women's healthcare that the Trust has undertaken over the last 3-4 years.

Applicants are required to hold Membership of the Royal College of Pathologists (UK or equivalent qualifications), to be fully registered with the General Medical Council, and to be on the Specialist Register or due to obtain their CCT within six months of the date of interview. CESR candidates must have written GMC confirmation of successful application.

Interviews will take place on Wednesday 13th January 2027.

Maternity Services and Gynaecology Services are based at Ormskirk Hospital. Clinics are conducted at Southport Hospital and May Logan Community Centre. With shaping care together, there is a drive to take services closer to the women and conduct more clinics in the community.

Duties include:

Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust serves a population of over 600,000 with a workforce of over 9000 dedicated and skilled staff across 21 sites.

We strongly believe that the communities we serve should all have access to Five Star Patient Care.

Our services:

Acute Care

Providing emergency and maternity services at Whiston, Southport and Ormskirk hospitals, and medical and surgical specialties across all our sites.

Primary Care
