We invite applications for a Paediatric Emergency Medicine Clinical Fellow post and Adult Clinical Teaching Fellow posts through one recruitment advertisement. These 12-month appointments combine ST4+ equivalent emergency care with opportunities to develop teaching, supervision, leadership and quality improvement skills. Responsibilities and development objectives will reflect the appointed pathway.

The paediatric pathway is particularly suited to higher specialty trainees seeking advanced PEM experience and portfolio development before applying for PEM subspecialty training. The fellow will join the PEM Teaching Faculty and contribute to county-wide multidisciplinary education. Out of Programme Experience arrangements require confirmation before appointment.

The adult pathway combines adult Emergency Medicine practice with undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervision and support for junior doctors, resident doctors and CESR candidates.

Please specify in your application form if your interest is in Paediatrics or in the Adult Teaching Fellow post.

Please also ensure your application form provides evidence that you are working at ST4 level.

The post offers a unique 70:30 split between clinical Emergency Medicine practice and educational leadership activities, providing extensive opportunities for teaching, simulation, quality improvement, governance, leadership and multidisciplinary working.

The successful candidate will become an integral member of the emergency medicine team.

Shared clinical responsibilities approximately 70 percent. Participate in the Emergency Department rota at ST4+ equivalent level. Assess, diagnose and manage undifferentiated illness and injury within the appointed pathway. Work autonomously within agreed competencies, seeking senior support appropriately. Supervise and support junior trainees, foundation doctors and resident doctors. Contribute to patient flow and operational activities. Participate in resuscitation, trauma and acute care management as appropriate. Maintain accurate clinical records. Participate in governance, audit, quality improvement and risk management. Deliver safe, effective and patient-centred care in line with Trust and departmental standards.

Educational, leadership and development responsibilities approximately 30 percent.

Please refer to the attached job description for more information.
